Aachen is close to the airports “Düsseldorf” and “Köln-Bonn”. Some international flights might also arrive at “Frankfurt/Main”. From there you have the possibility to reach Aachen by train.

From the Airport “Düsseldorf”

From the airport, there is a direct train to Aachen main station. You can also take the S-Bahn to Düsseldorf main station, where you must change to the regional train going to Aachen main station.

From the Airport “Köln-Bonn”

There are regular trains to Köln main station, where you can change to trains going to Aachen main station.
Alternatively, you can take the bus to “Köln-Deutz”. After a short walk you arrive at the DB station Köln-Deutz where you take the regional train to Aachen main station.

From the Airport “Frankfurt/Main”

There are regular trains to Köln main station, where you can change to trains going to Aachen main station. Every 2 hours the ICE-International runs directly from Frankfurt Airport to Aachen main station.

Via the Autobahn

At the “Aachener Kreuz”, where autobahn A4 and A44 meet, please take the A4 directed to Heerlen (NL). Leave the highway at the exit “Aachen-Laurensberg” and take the motorway directed to Aachen-Innenstadt. Follow the signs guiding you to “RWTH Melaten”. Directly after passing a short tunnel, please take the exit and leave the upcoming roundabout at the second exit. After drivng 300m straight ahead, you see the physics department on your right side and parking lots on the left. Leaving your car on the parking lots, you can use stairs to the physics department.

 

By Train and Bus

Via Aachen Main Station

Please take the bus 3A or 3B starting in front of the main station. It will bring you to the bus stop „Campus Melaten“ (~ 20 min). The stairs close to the bus station guide you to a plateau where the physics center is located. The tower with the sign “28” on top is the right one (it is visible on the left at the exit of the way from the stairs. It is located about 200 m from there). Use the entrance of that tower. Secretary and offices of group leaders are in the third floor within the corridor having green doors, where rooms are called 28 C 3.. .
Alternatively, you can catch a taxi to Physikzentrum, Otto-Blumenthalstrasse (~15 €). Let you bring to the very end of the street (“Wendehammer”). There you see the tower “28” to the right. Use the door of that tower. Secretary and offices of group leaders are in the third floor within the corridor having green doors, where rooms are called 28 C 3.. .
